    Tamoxifen blood clots

Smokers are at increased risk of clots and any patient taking tamoxifen is also at risk of blood clots so the advice is that being immobile should be avoided, and extra care is needed particularly after surgery. Her age is in her favour but the combination of smoking, cancer and tamoxifen use will increase her risk. I had a CT scan a few days ago and cancer is still stable. They gave me a Heparin (Fragmin) shot and a prescription to give myself shots everyday for possibly 6 months, then warfarin (Coumadin) Since Tamoxifen has worked great for 21 months, I am not ready to stop taking it. The CT showed an "iliac venous thrombosis" (blood clot) in the abdomen. Pray this is the only serious side affect of Tamoxifen I will have. I had bleeding from the second injection site, a full 20 hours later (Doctor said I probably just hit a larger vein). He said I didn't have to do or not do things differently. It makes me a little nervous thinking about riding my motorcycle, but I am sure I will anyway. Anyone else with a blood clot or some experience with treatment or complications? I also take injections for years because I have clot in liver n factor 5 leiden which is clotting factor.

I am 43 years old, Oncology does not want me to go off Tamoxifen, and Internal Medicine guys are saying now I'll need to be on blood thinners for the duration of my Tamoxifen, if not for life. Prior to this I have been feeling SO GOOD, other than the hot flashes and aches and pains that come and go due to the Tamoxifen. Has anyone had experience with this, and if so, what did you do? Oncology is saying I could remove ovaries and go on another drug, this is just initial conversation, will be meeting with them soon.
